Tara Agyemang is a developer relations engineer on Google’s Chrome team working on WebMCP and Modern Web Guidance, two efforts to make AI agents more effective at using and building websites. Her approach puts accessibility, browser compatibility, performance, privacy, and human control at the center of agent-assisted web development.
Also known professionally as Tara Ojo Agyemang, she studied at Aston University and worked at the Financial Times, where she wrote about remote onboarding and engineering-team culture. Her earlier projects include a React application for browsing and searching products.
At Google, Agyemang has worked across Google Health, Android Health and Fitness, Privacy Sandbox, and Chrome. She contributed to Health Connect compatibility tests and authored guidance on cross-origin Shared Storage worklets, explaining browser mechanisms for carefully controlled cross-site data access. She has also built a community for Black women in engineering.
Making the web work for agents and people
- Structured tools for browser agents. WebMCP lets websites describe supported actions explicitly, reducing agents’ reliance on fragile DOM inspection, screenshots, and guessed clicks. Unlike server-side MCP integrations, these tools operate inside an active browser session. The experimental proposal has advanced to a Chrome origin trial.
- Accessibility as agent infrastructure. Agyemang treats semantic HTML, robust accessibility, fast loading, Core Web Vitals, and clear user journeys as prerequisites for reliable automated interaction, not problems a new agent protocol can erase.
- Practical, visible automation. Ordinary HTML forms can expose tools declaratively; complex workflows can register JavaScript tools with explicit descriptions, parameters, and execution results. Agyemang illustrated the distinction with a Chrome developer-relations team’s agent-controlled maze and a concert-ticket demonstration she built herself. She emphasizes human-in-the-loop browser automation: interface changes should remain visible, and purchases should require human confirmation.
- Better guidance for coding agents. Agyemang has contributed to Modern Web Guidance, which gives coding agents expert-vetted information about accessibility, performance, browser compatibility, and current web-platform capabilities. She has also helped developers apply that guidance across different agents, models, frameworks, and codebases.
