In 2025, Sawhney contributed to GenAI Processors, Google’s open-source Python library for composing multimodal AI applications from reusable, asynchronous components. The project supports streaming and concurrent execution across research assistants, real-time agents, and other workflows involving text, images, and audio.
He subsequently worked on Gemini Deep Research and the Interactions API, then focused on adapting Google’s Antigravity agent harness for internal coding and knowledge-work applications. Speaking alongside Ian Ballantyne at AI Engineer Europe 2026, Sawhney described several practical priorities:
- Shared workspaces for research agents: Coordinate research through shared files and artifacts instead of repeatedly transmitting large text payloads between processing stages.
- Reusable skills with guarded command-line tools: Encode specialist knowledge in reusable skills, constrain command-line access, and prevent sprawling internal skill libraries from accumulating unreliable tools. He values MCP’s authentication capabilities without treating the protocol as mandatory infrastructure.
- Hierarchical agent observability: Trace requests through orchestration layers to individual model calls, and retain coding-agent trajectories to identify loops and other failures.
- Cost-aware agent evaluation: Manage user quotas, combine lower-cost and more capable models, and test agent workflows in sandboxed environments without unnecessarily consuming accelerator resources.
- Human-supervised code review: Apply language-specific review models, organizational coding conventions, and automated pull-request feedback while preserving human oversight.
