Boris Bogatin is the co-founder and chief executive of Catio, an enterprise-software company building AI copilots for technology architecture. He argues that generating code faster can compound technical debt when engineering teams lack a clear understanding of their existing systems, business priorities, and architectural constraints.
Earlier in his career, Bogatin worked in corporate development at Cidera, technology strategy and corporate development at SkyTerra, and venture investing with Lumia Capital; he also founded the mobile-technology company NearVerse. He subsequently founded Siden, which developed cloud-based content distribution and wireless infrastructure, and served as its chief strategy officer. He described originating Siden with Columbia Capital colleagues in 2017 before eventually moving into an advisory role. A Siden-associated patent names him among the inventors of technology for distributing and storing content across local and network clouds.
After announcing Catio’s pre-seed financing, Bogatin introduced a founding team that included co-founder and chief technology officer Toufic Boubez. Their goal was to make sophisticated cloud-architecture planning more accessible to engineering organizations.
Architecture as a strategic engineering discipline
- Architecture before acceleration. Bogatin argues that enterprises have extensive tooling for implementation and operations but still make major architectural decisions using fragmented knowledge, spreadsheets, and intuition. His case for data-driven technology planning centers on identifying which technical changes actually advance business priorities before accelerating delivery.
- Catio Stacks and living architecture maps. Catio Stacks provides a continuously updated view of systems and dependencies, giving teams context for recommendations ranked against cost, performance, risk, and expected business impact.
- Multi-agent architectural reasoning. Bogatin envisions collaborative specialist agents functioning like experienced architecture teams: combining complementary expertise and evaluating interconnected trade-offs instead of treating complex infrastructure decisions as isolated chatbot queries.
- Archie and embedded architectural governance. Archie, Catio’s conversational architecture copilot, brings system-specific recommendations and organizational standards into developers’ existing workflows. The aim is to scale architectural guidance without forcing every decision through a centralized review process.
In a joint appearance with Boubez at AI Engineer Code 2025, Bogatin connected these capabilities to a broader division of labor: architecture copilots establish technical direction, coding copilots execute against it, and measurable outcomes improve subsequent decisions.
