Construction AI

Trunk Tools

Trunk Tools builds AI software for general contractors, subcontractors and project owners to work with construction documents and drawings. Its Cortex intelligence layer connects project information across agents: TrunkText answers jobsite questions with cited sources, TrunkReview identifies drawing revisions, and TrunkRFI checks, drafts and analyzes requests for information. TrunkBid compares subcontractor proposals against scope requirements, while TrunkSubmittal checks submissions against specifications and RFI responses. These tools help teams find information and review discrepancies that can cause rework.

Founder and CEO Sarah Buchner established Trunk Tools in 2021 after working in carpentry and general contracting and earning a doctorate in civil engineering and data science. Its engineering approach combines specialized drawing models with a construction ontology and a project knowledge graph linking specifications, drawings, submittals, RFIs and schedules. The company built a labeled construction-drawing training corpus. This shared structure lets agents pass context between workflows—for example, turning a drawing change into a drafted RFI.

In 2026, the company announced a Suffolk enterprise agreement extending deployment to more than 1,500 field users nationwide. In 2025, Trunk Tools closed a $40 million Series B led by Insight Partners, bringing total funding to $70 million; the round carried a reported $325 million valuation.
