I'm a long-time geek dating back to the days of the Commodore VIC-20, which my father brought home when I was 7. Back then you could buy computer magazines with source code for programs in the back of them, and I spent countless hours seeing if I could make them work. It spurned a love for technology which never left. I've spent the bulk of my career in some form of an education space, as a trainer, presenter, or content creator. I love to help others have that “aha” moment, making something click for the first time, or solving a difficult problem. My approach has always been to teach the way I learn, to deconstruct the parts I struggled with and show how it finally made sense to me. I'm a developer at heart, in particular web development. Over the course of my career I've shifted focus a handful of times, including AI, chat bots, DevOps, and machine learning. I'm a huge fan of TypeScript, Python and Django. If I'm not writing code or otherwise working, I can probably be found running too many miles, playing Civilization, or spending time with my wife Karin and our four legged child (an adopted dog named Sammy).
